The TMK 400 is the largest Tree Shear in the TMK range and was originally developed for forestry work in Central Europe where the trees are bigger and harder than in Finland. The TMK 400 is powered by cylinders specially designed for it, enabling the shear to easily cut trees up to 400 mm in diameter.

TMK 400 is a true tree shear powerhouse. This shear will cut up to 400 mm softwood and 350 hardwood trees comfortably, so the TMK 400 is optimal shear for larger scale vegetation clearance and problem tree removals. TMK 400 fits to 12-30 tonne excavators, big skid steers & more.
The structure is in true TMK fashion, capsular and modular. Efficient optional attachments make sure that TMK 400 compliments your needs perfectly. And when your needs increase by time, the shear can grow with your work. If you want to handle big trees safely, the TMK 400 is just what you need. The blade is 20mm thick & made from high quality Hardox 500 steel, with fixed design this helps towards the longevity of the shear. This way the blade slices better into the tree and can still withstand heavy work. The shear frame is made out of Hardox 400 steel itself.
The TMK 400 shear is capable of opening up to a width of up to over 1100 mm. The strong capsular structure can withstand the twisting force of even the largest trunks, while keeping the weight of the shear below 650 kg.

CYLINDER OPTIONS
The versatile main Cylinder Options on the TMK Tree Shear allow you to adapt the shear to your existing machine, both in terms of cutting power and operating speed. Because of various cylinder options, the shear can be connected to just about any machine.
With the TMK 400, two options are available either the HD Cylinder or Turbo Cylinder, more information on the both of these can be found below.
HD Cylinder
The HD ( Heavy Duty ) Cylinder is a all round powerhouse. When a big tree needs to be cut with limited pressure or lower, the HD cylinder is just what you need. With the TMK 400, this acts as the standard setup here in the UK.

Turbo Cylinder
TMK Turbo is a patented cylinder consisting of a smaller cylinder inside a bigger one. The smaller cylinder is always activated first, and the bigger one only if there is not enough power. This arrangement harnesses the speed of the small cylinder and the power of the large cylinder.

As with the TMK 300, the TMK 400 Tree Shear can be fitted with either the TMK 180º Tilting Unit ( 90 in either direction ) or a full 360 degree rotator is now available to suit the 400 model.

The Collector / Accumilator
The simple operation of the Collector enables quick and easy operation, for example when thinning a young forest. With the Collector, you can cut and collect thin trunks without having to lift the boom after each cut, turn the machine and drop a small trunk into a pile individually. Now with two different control options “Easy Control” & “Full Control“
The Brush Grapple
Allowing you to cut even the smallest trees neatly. An additional blade welded at the bottom of the grapple is sharpened on one side only, and it eliminates the gap between the grapple and the blade. As a result, the cutting motion becomes more scissor-like and even the most flexible twigs, such as small willows.
