The APF Exhibition is back at the Ragley Estate in Warwickshire from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 September 2026, and we will be there on stand 1290.
If you have been to APF before you will know the rundown. It is the biggest forestry, woodland and arboricultural show in the country, around 23,000 people come through the gate and the vast majority of them are trade, and there is more machinery on the ground than anyone can properly look at in a day. So this is a short guide to what we are bringing, to help plan ahead when visiting our stand.
What is on stand 1290
A fair bit has changed since we were last at APF. This year we are bringing a display of the Next-GEN TMK 200, 300 and 400 Tree Shears, set up with an array of different cylinder and attachment options, alongside the most up to date TMK Grapple Saws, MultiGrabs, and the attachment options on their own.
We are not running a live demonstration this year. What we do have is setups on machines and the range laid out where you can get close to it. You can look at how a shear actually mounts, take a look into the different cylinder options, see the difference between one Shear to the next, and have a conversation about your own job without shouting over a running engine.
Come with one thing: the make and model of your machine
This is the single most useful thing you can bring to the stand.
Almost every conversation we have at a show starts the same way, with someone asking whether a TMK will work on their machine. Thanks to TMK’s cylinder options It will more then likely a yes but the honest answer is that it depends on two numbers, and they are not the two numbers most people expect.
Weight class gets you to the right model. The TMK tree shear range is designed to run on excavators from around 1 ton to 30 ton, plus other carrier machines. The grapple saw sits on 13 to 25 tonne machines. The MultiGrab S suits 6 to 12 tonne excavators and the M / M-HD suits 12 to 25 tonnes, with an L currently in final stages for anything over 30 tonnes.
Hydraulic flow and pressure get you to the right setup. This is the part that catches people out. Two machines of the same weight can want completely different cylinder options depending on what their auxiliary hydraulics actually deliver. This varies machine to machine, therefore we usually take a look into a specification sheet on your specific machine to see what it offers on the Auxiliary flows and pressures, from here we can then recommend the best cylinder option to suit. Get it wrong and you may have a shear that feels slow and disappointing through no fault of its own.
So if you tell us the make and model of your machine, we can look up the flow and pressure and tell you the model and the cylinder setup that suits it, hopefully there and then. You do not need to arrive knowing your hydraulic specifications. You just need to know the machine you are looking to put the shear on!
What to look at, depending on the work you do
If you are felling and thinning standing timber, start at the tree shears. The current range cuts from 150mm up to 400mm dependant on model, suiting machines from 1T up to 30T, which is why it goes on machines a lot of people assume are too small for this kind of work.
If you are processing at the roadside or on the deck, look at the grapple saw. It grabs, cuts and handles in one head: a 650mm cut, & hydraulic shear blade for material up to 150mm, with a grapple opening of 1,190mm. Running on TMK’s wireless control powered by ordinary drill batteries allowing the setup between machines to be fairly straight forward. At around 850kg without the rotator 990KG with, it moves between machines more easily than most people expect. With no additional hydraulic pumps needed, all your machine will need is a double acting circuit, rotation line & drain line – along with a 12V socket in the cab for the wireless kit.
If your work is clearing, sorting and handling, spend your time on the MultiGrabs. They are built from Hardox 400 and 500 steel with a single 180 degree opening, which is what gives them the strength for heavy clearance and the precision to pick up something small without wrecking it. They are as useful on demolition, stone, stump removal and raking as they are on timber. The rotating versions are worth a look if you are sorting rather than just shifting. As in the name, they can be used on a wide range of tasks.
